The instinct of a mother is one of the strongest forces in existence, and dogs are no different. When the moment arrived for a frightened Pittie mom to deliver her babies, she searched desperately for a place she believed would shield them.

Her search led her to an abandoned house in St. Louis, Missouri. She chose the boarded-up, pitch-dark shelter, hoping it would provide safety. But with no food, no water, and no light, it was far from the refuge she needed.

Alone and exhausted, she did her best to care for her newborns until rescuers arrived just in time.
