A penalty kick shootout looked like the Nazareth Area High School girls soccer team ’s best path forward as Central Bucks South created chance after chance on Saturday.

Unfortunately for the Blue Eagles, a late corner kick brought their season to a sudden halt.

Central Bucks South defeated Nazareth 1-0 on a golden goal with 3:47 remaining in the second overtime period during a PIAA Class 4A quarterfinal at Upper Perkiomen High School.

Central Bucks South (17-6-1), the fourth-place team from District 1, advances to the state semifinals, where it’ll meet Central Dauphin 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cocalico High School. Central Dauphin (14-8) placed third in District 3 but shut out both District 1 champion Pennridge and District 12 winner Archbishop Carroll in the first round and quarterfinals,
