MICHIGAN, USA — It's been half a century since the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior on Nov. 10, 1975, taking the lives of all 29 members of her crew.
50 years ago on Monday, one of the most " mysterious and controversial " of all shipwrecks on the Great Lakes took place 17 miles north-northwest of Whitefish Point.
According to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum , the only shipwreck to surpass the Edmund Fitzgerald's story in books, film and media is the Titanic.
