Belleville City Council will be looking at a report that considers two hour free parking at muncipal lots within the boundaries of the Belleville Downtown District BIA.
Council requested the report on “the financial and operational implications of 2-hour free parking in all parking lots within the boundaries of the BDIA” back at its meeting on October 27, 2025.
According to the report, the cost to manage the 2-hour free period would increase between $53,000 -$106,000 per year for enforcement officers or between $458,200 and $526,775 to install a parking control system.
Costs for the parking control system include yearly software maintenance fees as well as an increased budget to handle new physical signage.
Council will vote on receiving the report at its meeting on Monday.
