A former senior Greater Manchester Police officer has appeared in court accused of lying about his military service.

Nick Adderley, 59, has been charged with fraud and misconduct in public office.

He is accused of committing the offences between 2018 and 2024, when he served as chief constable for Northamptonshire Police.

Adderley, who grew up in Manchester, is alleged to have made false claims of being a decorated Navy officer.

He is also accused of lying about his educational achievements on his CV while applying to work for the police.

Adderley appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning (November 10), wearing a black suit with a red poppy on his lapel.
