DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Low humidity, breezy conditions, and persistent drought conditions will lead to an increased fire risk across The Wiregrass through Monday evening.

This comes behind a strong cold front that moved through Sunday.

Wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph will continue as relative humidity drops below 30 percent. Mixed with the ongoing severe to extreme drought, the risk of any fire becoming a wildfire is elevated.

Although Southeastern Alabama and Southeastern Georgia are not under any advisories or warnings relating to fire, a red flag warning is in effect for much of the Florida Panhandle.

To minimize fire risk, practice plenty of caution burning outside or abstain from burning altogether. Do not park cars on top of dry grass, and be careful with disposal of cigarettes.
