BROOKLYN, Ohio -- City Council is currently considering tax-increment financing (TIF) related to major residential construction coming to Brooklyn.
“We have new townhomes going up on Memphis Avenue,” Brooklyn Mayor Ron Van Kirk said. “Those will be a TIF district, which allows us to use those tax dollars -- received outside of the school taxes -- to be able to pay for any type of infrastructure upgrades in the area.
“We have not targeted a specific project yet, but in order to use those funds for that, you have to get the TIF set up as the project is coming along, so that’s what we’re doing.”
Brooklyn Rabbit Run LLC is planning 62 townhomes spread out across three different properties.
