BOISE, Idaho — Tuesday is Veterans Day, a day to honor all who have served our country in the military. We recognize and thank them for their patriotism, service and sacrifice.

One Treasure Valley woman is doing that in her own special way, one handknit hat at a time. For nearly two decades, 96-year-old Norva Pedrone has devoted her time, heart, and talent to knitting hats for veterans. She donates them to the men and women at the Boise Veterans Hospital.

Each hat she knits is her way of saying thank you to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. She does this out of deep gratitude and in honor of her late husband, who proudly served in World War II.

This year's donation day was significant; on that day, she turned 96 and marked the occasion surrounded by family.
