Snow accumulated up to 18 inches in Michigan's Upper Peninsula over the weekend, with other areas seeing around a foot or less as their first measurable snowfall of the season — and more snow is underway, prompting winter weather advisories.
Negaunee, located near Marquette in the north-central portion of the Upper Peninsula, saw the most snow accumulation at 10.8-18 inches, and Big Bay saw 6.6-12.4 inches.
Lake-effect snow is forecast to continue in those areas through Tuesday, Nov. 11.
" Another 1 to 3 inches in north-central U.P. is expected through 8 a.m. After 8 a.m. , snow lightens except in northern and eastern Marquette County and western Alger County, where a period of moderate to heavy snow is expected through early afternoon," the National Weather Service in Marquette said
