MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A standoff in Middletown ended peacefully early Monday morning, according to police.

Officers were called to a home on Green End Avenue around 9 p.m. Sunday for a reported disturbance.

Clayton Frable, 59, allowed a 44-year-old woman to leave the home before barricading himself inside, police said. She was taken to the hospital with injuries.

The Newport County Special Response Team and Rhode Island State Police were called in to assist.

After negotiating with Frable, police said he eventually left the home and was taken into custody.

He was charged with domestic violence and obstructing an officer in the execution of duty.

Frable is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
