At least eight people were killed and several others were injured in a blast in a car outside Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening. Six cars, four motorcycles and three e-rickshaws caught fire after the blast, sources said.
Dr B L Chaudhary, MD, Lok Nayak Hospital said, “Eight people have been killed and six injured.”
Delhi Fire Service said in a statement that a call was received around 6.55 pm about an explosion and vehicles catching fire. Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was doused by 7.36 pm, the statement said.
Madhur Verma, Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) said, “The car was CNG-equipped. It is too early to comment on the nature of the blast at this point.” The incident happened near Delhi’s Red Fort.
