A bid to turn a former bank into a fast food chicken shop has been refused amid complaints over the number of takeaways in Cardonald.

ChicKing, a global brand which began in Dubai, asked Glasgow City Council for permission to open a restaurant , with takeaway, in an old TSB building on Paisley Road West

But the application — submitted by Foodfixx Ltd, which was granted the master franchise in Scotland — has now been refused as it would have resulted in an “overconcentration” of non-retail premises on the street.

Council planners added the use would be “detrimental to the character and amenity of the surrounding area” due to “increased activity and the increased and unmitigated parking demand, cooking fumes and litter”.
