GREENSBORO, N.C. — It's a somber day for the Greensboro Police Department. They lost one of their own in the line of duty, seven years ago.

24-year-old Jared William Franks died in a crash while responding to a robbery on November 10, 2018.

While investigating, a possible robbery in progress officers were attempting to locate the suspect vehicle when a motor vehicle collision occurred at S. Elm-Eugene Street and Webster Road, involving police vehicles. As a result of the collision, officer Jared William Franks died.
