ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — McDonald's is seeking a permit to build a new location in Rockford, adjacent to a busy grocery store.

An application for a special use permit to create a drive-thru McDonald's restaurant at 1869 North Perryville Road, near Meijer's grocery store, is under consideration by the city's Zoning Board of Appeals.

The McDonald's would be built on the corner of N. Perryville and Rote Road.

The company currently operates two restaurants near the proposed location: 1.7 miles away at the intersection of E. State and Perryville to the south, and 2.5 miles north near the corner of Riverside Blvd and S. Bell School Road.

McDonald's is also planning to build a new restaurant at 4103 West State Street.

The ZBA will consider the application at the meeting on Tuesday, November 1
