After an intense blast in a Hyundai i20 car near Delhi’s Red Fort left at least eight people dead and several others injured, political leaders across party lines, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and Mamata Banerjee, expressed grief over the incident. The leaders mourned the loss of lives as “deeply distressing and heartbreaking, and prayed for those injured in one voice.

The blast took place when a Hyundai i20, carrying three people, with a Haryana number plate was moving slowly towards a red light near the Red Fort area close to the Gauri Shankar and Jain temples, when it exploded at around 6:52 pm on Monday.
