Expectant mothers and medical professionals can rest easy knowing there is no conclusive evidence linking prenatal use of paracetamol (acetaminophen) to the later development of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children.

The review, published in the journal, The BMJ, was conducted by experts at Monash University in Australia. It assessed nine systematic reviews that included around 40 observational studies. These examined the usage of paracetamol by mothers during pregnancy and possible effects on the offspring's neurodevelopment.
