(FOX 5/KUSI) — Are you on the fence about adopting an animal?
The San Diego Humane Society launched a new program that allows potential adopters to take a pet home for several days before committing to an adoption.
The Adoption Trial Program allows people to take an animal home for up to two weeks.
“You can think of it like a test run,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of San Diego Humane Society. “...It is a win-win — potential adopters don’t feel pressure to commit right away, and pets get a break from the stressful shelter environment, which also opens space for more animals who need our help.”
