LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said she is relieved after the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) denied hearing a challenge to the Obergefell decision , which granted the right to marriage equality nationwide.

Supreme Court Justices turned away an appeal, without comment, from former Kentucky court clerk Kim Davis, who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Davis said her faith prevented her from complying with the 2015 Obergefell Supreme Court ruling, which made same-sex marriage legal in the United States.
