Police say a 39-year-old man has been charged with murder after a deadly shooting over the weekend in Maryland.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, officers heard gunfire coming from Germantown Square Urban Park around 11:08 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, while patrolling near Germantown Road and Middlebrook Road.

When they arrived, officers found 34-year-old Kendall Butler, of Germantown, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Despite lifesaving efforts, Butler was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Investigators said three men were spotted leaving the area immediately after the shooting — 39-year-old Michael Aaron Lynn, of Germantown; 61-year-old Kent Williams Jr., who has no fixed address; and a 27-year-old man.

All three were apprehended without incident.

Both Lynn and Williams Jr. were found with handguns, police said.

Lynn was later charged with first-degree murder and other firearm-related offenses. Williams Jr. was charged with several firearm-related offenses, while the third man was released after questioning.

Both Lynn and Williams Jr. are being held without bond.
