Alabama men’s basketball didn’t spend long outside the top 10.
The Crimson Tide jumped up to No. 8 in the AP top 25 and No. 9 in the coaches poll after defeating St. John’s 103-96 this past weekend at Madison Square Garden. The Red Storm had been ranked No. 5 before the loss, and Alabama was No. 15.
St. John’s fell to No. 13 in both polls.
Alabama (2-0) has minimal time to celebrate, though. Next up, the Crimson Tide will face another top-five team in Purdue. The Boilermakers are ranked No. 2 in the AP top 25 and No. 1 in the coaches poll.
Alabama will face Purdue on Thursday (6 p.m. CT, ESPN2) at Coleman Coliseum.
Then, the Crimson Tide has matchups with Illinois and Gonzaga, both top 20 teams.
