ANN ARBOR — Michigan’s season-opening blowout earned the Wolverines an improved ranking in Monday’s AP Top 25 men’s basketball poll. One voter even put them at No. 1.
Michigan moved up one spot to No. 6 in the latest poll, which includes 61 media members and, for the first time this season, is influenced by the results of games. All ballots included Michigan, which was as low as No. 16 (two ballots) and as high as No. 1 (The Athletic’s C.J. Moore).
Houston is the actual No. 1 team; the Cougars swapped with Purdue on Monday. Both teams are 2-0 as are most in the top 25. The Wolverines’ 121-78 win over Oakland on opening night (Nov. 3) is their only game so far this season. They play Wake Forest in Detroit on Tuesday.
