SNOWSHOE, W.Va. (WBOY) — With some help from the first snow of the season, ski resorts in West Virginia kicked off snow making to prepare for the start of the season.

Temperatures dipped down into the 20s and 30s in the Mountain State on Monday, and several ski resorts took advantage of it. Snowshoe Mountain in Pocahontas County and Winterplace in Raleigh County both announced Monday that they have officially started making snow.

"Snowmaking is in full swing and Mother Nature is pitching in as well," Snowshoe said on social media.

West Virginia got several inches of natural snow Monday, and more is possible with some higher elevation counties expected to get up to 7 inches of natural snow by Tuesday afternoon.

Snowshoe has said that it plans to open the day before Thanksgiving on Nov.
