A hazardous-materials incident Monday morning led to an evacuation and early dismissal at Salisbury High School , authorities said.
Salisbury Township police in a Facebook post said a chemical had spilled inside a cabinet used to store flammable liquids.
This occurred in an isolated room not occupied by students or staff, according to the post.
Lehigh County Special Operations responded to assist in identifying the chemical. The decision to evacuate the school and send students home early was reached among the county responders with police and fire officials.
“Crews remained on scene to decontaminate and clean the area,” police wrote in their post late Monday morning. “No students or faculty were exposed or harmed. School will resume as normal tomorrow.”
