For most first responders, the workday is mostly about saving lives; but, one local police officer and a 911 dispatcher started their Monday morning by bringing a new life into the world.
Pikeville police said on Facebook , a call came in at 3:38am to the Bledsoe County E-911 Center about a woman being in "active labor".
Officer Hailey Beaty got to the scene just five minutes later, delivered the baby with the help of Communications Officer Toni Wilson.
"With calm, courage, and compassion, Officer Beaty—communicated with Communications Officer Toni Wilson and helped deliver a beautiful baby girl before EMS arrived,” the post said.
Both the mother and her new baby girl were taken to a local hospital.
Police said both "are doing wonderfully".
