Veteran's Day is observed every Nov. 11, where Americans celebrate and honor all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The holiday began as Armistice Day in 1919 to commemorate those who fought in World War I, and became a national holiday in 1938. In 1954, the holiday was renamed to honor American veterans of all wars.

Lane County's Veterans Services Office estimates around 30,000 veterans are living in Lane County.
