ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - President Donald Trump’s pardons Monday morning of alternate electors will not impact the prosecution of his Georgia election interference case.

“Early this morning, I became aware that President Trump issued pardons to several individuals alleged to have committed crimes in various states in connection with attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election,” said Pete Skandalakis, executive director of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia . “Some of the individuals pardoned are named in the Georgia RICO indictment.

“It is important to note that President Trump’s pardons apply only to federal charges and do not affect state charges,” said Skandalakis, whose agency has until Nov. 14, 2025, to appoint a new special prosecuto
