An arrest has been made in connection with shots being fired at federal agents conducting immigration enforcement in Chicago, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
In a post on X Monday, DHS announced an undocumented immigrant from Mexico was arrested in connection with a shooting "targeting Border Patrol agents in Chicago." No identity was released as of Monday afternoon.
DHS said the suspect had previous convictions for unlawful use of a weapon.
"He is currently marked as a violator of the Laken Riley Act, pending charges related to assaulting officer," the post read.
The incident unfolded Saturday in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood.
