Football fans, players and experts continue to debate the benefits of artificial turf versus real grass. Some worry artificial turf increases a player's risk for injury, specifically lower leg, non-contact injuries.
A study done last year by the NFL Players Association found 92% of players prefer to play on grass over turf. Of the 30 NFL stadiums in the U.S., 16 have real grass and 14 have artificial turf, including MetLife Stadium, home of the Jets and Giants.
NY1 sports anchor Stef Manisero sat down with athletic trainer and physical therapist Dr. John A. Gallucci to learn more about the science behind the debate.
