BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The United States Marine Corps celebrated its 250th birthday on Monday, Nov. 10.
Marines, young and old, were honored at the Louisiana State Capitol in a traditional cake-cutting ceremony.
The tradition calls for the oldest and youngest Marines to receive the first slices of cake, symbolizing the passing of knowledge, honor, and responsibility from one generation to the next, as well as the shared history of defending the country’s freedom.
