First Alert Weather Day: Cold, windy with snow in the mountains

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The cold blast of air has arrived, but a mid-to-late week thaw is around the corner.

Flurries and snow showers are expected in the mountains this afternoon and evening. An inch of snow is possible in the higher elevations, which has led to a winter weather advisory for the north Georgia mountains until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Wind chills will likely stay at, or below, freezing through the overnight hours thanks to winds gusting over 30 mph this evening, that finally slow down to around 10-15mph Tuesday morning. Occasional flurries or brief snow showers are possible in the north GA mountains as well through the early morning.
