Providence City Councilwoman Sue AnderBois is running for lieutenant governor.
AnderBois will announce her campaign for lieutenant governor at a campaign kickoff event on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Wild Colonial bar in Providence, her campaign confirmed.
AnderBois joins former state senator Cynthia Coyne in announcing a challenge to incumbent Democratic Lt. Gov. Sabina Matos. Others are considering jumping in.
AnderBois is the Northeast Division Director of Climate & Energy at The Nature Conservancy and has worked on environmental policy in Providence City Hall and at the State House.
In early November, the Council passed an ordinance she introduced to ban gas-powered leaf blowers.
Over the past year, she has been working on ways to make North Main Street less dangerous .
