In the heart of Atikameksheng Anishinabek , three sisters have turned their shared dream into a gathering place for coffee, art and conversation – a cosy cafe and arts centre that celebrates community, culture and creativity.
Located on the shores of Whitefish Lake southwest of Sudbury, Paula, Pamela and Lisa-Marie Naponse opened Whippoorwill Cafe Arts and Culture this summer. The cafe not only serves locally roasted coffee from Espanola Roasters and fresh food, including some traditional dishes, but also showcases and sells local Indigenous-made art. The sisters hope to soon expand their vision by offering cultural experiences – the first of their kind in the area.
