The Shapiro administration is improving safety options for commercial drivers by expanding truck parking across the commonwealth.
More than 1,200 truck parking spots will be added in 133 locations by the end of 2026 on existing state property.
A few of the first lots to open are at four on-ramps on Interstate 79 in Erie County and are marked with "truck parking" signage.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the lots are located with no sight, distance or safety concerns. They have weigh stations for Pennsylvania State Police motor carrier safety enforcement.
