RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) - A nationwide baby formula recall has been announced for ByHeart Inc. Whole Nutrition Infant Formula after 13 confirmed cases of infant botulism were seen across 10 states.

The Department of Health and Human Services says there has been one suspected case in North Carolina.

Two of the following lots have been temporarily recalled:

Lot: 206VABP/251261P2 (“Use by 01 Dec 2026”)

Lot: 206VABP/251131P2 (“Use by 01 Dec 2026”)

Botulism is a rare but serious paralytic illness and can be fatal. Symptoms of infant botulism can take as long as several weeks to show.

“Our Food and Drug Protection Division is working with retailers to make sure they have been notified about the recalled product and are removing it from store shelves,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxl
