FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Now that it’s cold and snowy, experts say it’s a good idea to make sure vehicles are ready for winter weather.

Preferred Auto Vice President Jake Leonard said one important tip is to check brake pads to make sure the vehicle can stop safely in icy and snowy conditions.

“Whether it be a squeak or a grind, or if you’re driving and your steering wheel starts shaking, that’s gonna be directly related to your rotors and your possibly low brake pads as well, so that’s a good sign and indication that you need to get your brake pads worked on and replaced,” he said.

Leonard also said it’s important to check tire treads.
