BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A fundraiser was held Sunday for Xxavien Alvarez, an 8-year-old boy killed by an alleged drunk driver while eating lunch with his father at a food truck in East Bakersfield.

Court documents show the crash happened Nov. 3 on California Avenue and Haley Street. Xxavien's father said he and his son were at Mariscos el Cholo food truck eating lunch.

That's when they saw a pickup truck rapidly approaching. The father said he tried to grab his son, but it was too late.

The alleged drunk driver -- Andres Serna -- drove through three fences, a metal tent and a powerline pole, hitting the father and son.
