A disturbance at a McDonald’s on Long Island turned violent, sending two Nassau County police officers to the hospital.
Officers were called to the Lawrence McDonald’s at 365 Rockaway Turnpike around 9p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, after employees reported a disturbance, according to Nassau County Police.
When officers arrived, they encountered 37-year-old Jonathan Green, who is homeless. Green was asked to leave the restaurant and initially complied but attempted to re-enter moments later, ignoring repeated commands to stop, police said.
A physical struggle broke out as officers tried to take him into custody. During the altercation, Green became violent and combative, injuring two officers in the process, police said.
Green and the officers were taken to nearby hospitals for evaluation and treatment. The extent of the officers’ injuries was not immediately clear.
Green is charged with two counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday, Nov. 10, at First District Court in Hempstead.
