The pantry is stocked, and volunteers at The Neighborhood Center's The Bridge are ready to help those who need it most.

But on Monday night, their focus will shift from feeding the hungry to keeping people warm.

"Because the temperatures are so cold, you can imagine sleeping in your car or out in the woods when it’s below 40 degrees," said Savannah-Jane Griffin, executive director of The Neighborhood Center. "So we set up this room. All the tables and chairs are moved, and we put out cots. Every person gets an individual cot with a blanket and a pillow."

Temperatures in Volusia County are expected to drop into the 30s overnight, much earlier in the season than usual.
