ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A horse died and its rider was injured Saturday evening when they were hit by a car on North Highway 67 and Candlewyck Club Drive, according to St. Louis County Police.
The man who was riding the horse was injured and was taken to a nearby hospital. Police said the driver of the car stayed at the scene and was treated for minor injuries.
The crash occurred along a stretch of road where horseback riders are commonly seen traveling from Old Jamestown into Florissant along the shoulder of Lindberg Boulevard.
Mark Goldstein, who works at Henke’s Tavern in Old Town Florissant, said the riding community has become a familiar sight in the area.
