DUNSEITH, N.D. (KMOT) - Ahead of Veterans Day, a new symbol of gratitude now stands in Dunseith.
On Monday, the community unveiled a new veterans park and memorial wall dedicated to those who’ve worn the uniform and protected our freedom.
It’s a new era for Rolette County.
The Veterans Memorial Park started as an idea from Army veteran Roger Counts and his family.
He served in Vietnam during the early 70s and wanted to create a place to honor those who served before, during and after him.
“It kind of means the world to me. I’ll leave something behind anyway,” said Counts.
Now he gets to share the vision with veteran organizations across the state.
“Today was the first time I got to see serving that there were a few organizations that got to shoot together. It was amazing,” said Mari
