Federal agents and Honolulu Police Department officers helped recover a missing 15-year-old child from Tennessee who investigators learned was living in a van at a construction site on Oahu.

On Sept. 1, the child was reported as a runaway and was last seen wearing a T-shirt and grey sweatpants walking on highway outside of Memphis, Tenn., from a facility where the teen was being treated for trauma, according to the U.S. Marshals Service in Washington, D.C.

More than two months later, on Nov. 2, the Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF) received a lead from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the missing teen. The tipster told law enforcement that he “employs the child’s father in Hawaii.”
