LOUISIANA. (KLFY) -- The Louisiana Department of Health has confirmed a measles case in a resident of Region 9, who was exposed during international travel.

The patient, whose vaccination status is unknown, was not hospitalized and will remain in isolation until no longer infectious. Public exposure occurred at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on Nov. 9, between 5-8:30 p.m.

This is the third measles case reported in Louisiana in 2025. The first two cases were also travel-associated and occurred in Region 1. Neither of those individuals required hospitalization.

Measles is highly contagious, and approximately 90% of unvaccinated individuals exposed to the virus will become infected. The virus can linger in the air for up to two hours after an infectious person leaves an
