TOMBSTONE, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Tombstone Animal Shelter is urgently seeking help from the community as it reaches full capacity. Staff are asking residents to refrain from abandoning pets along Highway 80 and are in direct need of volunteers and donations.

Patti Williams, vice president of the Tombstone Animal Shelter, highlighted the shelter's current situation.

"We have 12 dogs, which is our capacity," Williams said.

Part of the overflow problem is due to people abandoning their pets along the highway.

"Please just stop dumping them. We see the sadness in their eyes and we can't fix what you've caused. It's just getting harder and harder," Williams said.

The shelter is struggling to provide enough attention to all the animals, including dogs and cats.
