TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A fatal crash occurred on November 8, at around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of North Davis Avenue and Chester Way, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
A Ford Escape driver, with two passengers, was turning right onto Davis Avenue when the vehicle struck a cyclist from behind. The cyclist, identified as 53-year-old Cheryl Degeest, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced deceased.
The sheriff's department reported that neither impairment nor excessive speed were factors in the crash. The driver of the Escape was cited for causing death or serious injury by moving violation and failure to yield at a stop sign.
