A former Eagles linebacker is in recovery after recently discovering he has cancer.
Alex Singleton, currently with the Denver Broncos, announced on social media on Monday that he had surgery last Friday after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.
“Thankfully, we believe the cancer was caught early with a great prognosis for me and my family,” Singleton said in a statement. “While we are still awaiting some additional test results, I fully expect to return to the field in the coming weeks.”
Singleton said his diagnosis came after a league-mandated drug test showed elevated levels of the hormone hcG in his system. Further consultations with doctors led to the discovery of a tumor that was surgically removed.
“I wrestled with sharing such personal information publicly,” Singleton said
