GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man has been arrested on kidnapping and first-degree murder charges after a woman died from severe injuries early Tuesday morning, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

Officers, firefighters and EMS crews responded to an assault call around 12:08 a.m. at a home on Mayfair Avenue. When they arrived, they found 40-year-old Katrina Ann Viers unresponsive with trauma to her face and head, police said.

Viers was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. She later died at the hospital.

Police arrested 41-year-old Brian Parker Bigelow and charged him with first-degree murder and kidnapping.

According to court documents, Bigelow has pending charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and simple assault related to a May incident.
