WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A North Forsyth High School student is facing several charges after a school resource officer found a gun inside a vehicle on campus Monday, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say an anonymous tip alerted the SRO to the possibility of a firearm on school grounds. After searching the students involved and finding no weapon, a K9 officer was brought in to check a vehicle the students had exited. The K9 alerted to the car, and deputies found a gun under the passenger seat.
Juan Pablo Mendoza, 18, of Winston-Salem, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a weapon on educational property, misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun and three counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, according to the sheriff’s office.
