TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Lawmakers in Southern Arizona and across the country are preparing to return to Washington, D.C. The House could vote on a proposal to reopen the government as soon as Wednesday.

Eight Senate Democrats are breaking ranks with their leadership to support this plan.

Arizona's U.S. Democratic Senators, Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego, say they don't support the proposal. They say a major issue is and has been the impending expiration of health care subsidies. Premiums under the Affordable Care Act will rise. The plan up for a vote only includes a promise for a vote sometime next month.

With a deal on track to pass, Southern Arizona Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva is set to be sworn in, according to the Speaker's Office. This could be Grijalva's first vote.
