TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The 19-year-old man involved in the fatal hit-and-run that claimed the lives of three University of Arizona students is now facing manslaughter charges.
Louis John Artal, 19, is now facing three counts of manslaughter charges and one count for leaving the scene. He was previously charged with three counts of second-degree murder, which he no longer faces.
The fatal hit-and-run happened on the night of Oct. 30 near 2nd Street and Euclid Avenue.
According to an interim complaint , Artal admitted to police that he had been drinking before crashing his Porsche convertible into a group of students who were in a crosswalk near the University of Arizona campus.
The incident resulted in the deaths of 22-year-old Josiah Santos, 21-year-old Sophia Troetel and 21-year-ol
