TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Two families, friends and fellow students are in mourning after their loved ones died in Tuscaloosa over the weekend.

The first of the two tragedies involved a University of Alabama student. Megan Giles, 19, was struck and killed by a driver while she tried to cross Jack Warner Parkway at the intersection of Queen City Avenue before the Alabama-LSU football game, according to police.

The second person, 21-year-old Cierra Anthony, was killed in a seven-car accident on Interstate-359. Two people are being charged in that wreck .

Nearly 30 personnel with the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to the wreck, and that didn’t include agencies like the Cyber Intelligence Divisions, Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue, Northport Police and UA Police.
